The BR-116 is the second longest road in Brazil and one of the world’s most dangerous roads. It has certainly earned its nickname as thousands of people die every year on it due to poor maintenance and bandit violence. It is one of the most important routes in Brazil and yet there are no actions taken to ensure the safety of the travellers who dare to start their engines on this road.
