Whether they knew the McCaugheys personally or not, everyone was eager to offer their assistance. Given the extraordinary nature of the birth of seven children at once, this response was understandable.
Kraft stepped up and offered to provide the family with a year’s supply of macaroni and cheese. Additionally, they received boxes of diapers, and some people offered their services as babysitters or nannies. In a remarkable gesture, a 5,000-square-foot house was also donated to the family.
