This is one of the oldest structures in the United Kingdom to still be in use. William the Conqueror built it nearly a thousand years ago and during the Middle Ages, it was used as a prison.
Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, the wives of King Henry VIII, were all beheaded at the Tower.
