Once upon a time, this was the largest manufacturer of pig iron in the world. However, the plant was able to manufacture the large quantities of pig iron only because of the miserable conditions of the workers.

During the reign of a foreman between 1900 and 1906, the workers had to take quite a lot of risks and 47 people died during those years.

The foreman died by falling into a pool of molten steel and people still say they hear a creepy voice that tells them to work harder.
