Fort Delaware was a Union prison during the Civil war and held nearly 12,000 Confederate soldiers as prisoners of war.
Due to the dreadful conditions, there were many days when there was no food or water and the inmates also did not have any beds. The dungeons of the Fort are said to be quite a spot for paranormal activity.
