She was an English novelist best known for her six great novels, which interpret, criticize and comment on the landing of British nobility at the end of the 18th century. Austen’s storylines often explore women’s dependence on marriage in the pursuit of favorable social status and economic security.
Jane Austen may have been born in the 18th century, but that hasn’t stopped her from making her mark in literature. During her life, Jane Austen never married. It was unheard of at that time, but it seemed like no man could live up to her ideals of love.
