Elizabeth I of England

Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry VIII, and the fifth and last member of the Tudor dynasty to the throne of England. The execution of her mother Anne Boleyn three years after her birth caused her to lose her title of princess, received at birth and ratified by the second act of succession.

While it is very rare to see a King or Queen take the throne without a significant other by their side, Queen Elizabeth II of England has decided to do just that. In fact, she did it for the good of her country. By remaining single and childless, Elizabeth let her lineage run out because she didn’t want to marry another royal from another country. She wanted to keep her kingdom as strong as possible, and her throne was then passed on to James VI of Scotland who united England and Scotland.
