He is an American actor, director and screenwriter born October 16, 1958, in West Covina, California. He played the main role in The Player (1991) by Robert Altman, which won him the award for best actor at Cannes and the Golden Globe. He received an Oscar and again a Golden Globe for his performance in Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River.

Tim Robbins is best known for his role as Andy Dufresne in the prison drama, The Shawshank Redemption. In addition to his diverse acting portfolio, he writes, directs and even creates music. In 1988, Robbins formed a relationship with actress Susan Sarandon and they had two children together. Sadly, in 2009, the duo decided to go their separate ways without ever getting married. There have been no other rumors of a relationship since his split with Sarandon.
