Tomatoes In Europe
The Hunchback Of Notre Dame from 1996 is one of the least popular Disney movies of the ’90s. Less so because it’s bad, and more because the bar was just set really high this decade.
And it was also perhaps a little too dark for most Disney fans’ taste. This scene is a great example. Apart from how disturbing it is to watch Quasimodo get publicly ridiculed and beaten, there is also a factual error here we just have to point out.
The movie takes place in the 15th century, and that’s a full century before there were even tomatoes in France. And yet Quasimodo is being bombarded with tomatoes.
