They Didn’t Think It Was “Unsinkable”

It’s made into a pretty big deal in the movie that the Titanic is so big and powerful, it’s unsinkable. The captain believed it, the crew believed it, and so did the passengers. However, in real life it wasn’t quite like that. The ship was impressive, of course, but it wasn’t believed to be ‘unsinkable’, mainly because that’s ridiculous.

Why would a ship be unsinkable just because it’s large and beautiful? This myth rose after the disaster, and stuck around long enough to appear in the movie.
