Not So Historical

This particular historical inaccuracy did an injustice to the real life Officer William Murdoch, the first officer of the RMS Titanic. In the movie, he’s shown to shoot several passengers when under extreme pressure, before ultimately taking his own life.

There is no historical evidence that indicates he did either of these things, do it was a defamation of his character, really. James Cameron later apologized publicly to Murdoch’s family in the DVD commentary, after realizing the mistake he made.
