Blast From The Past
The original poster of this picture just knew that it was in their house by the front door and the house was built in the 1970s. This is actually a trace of a former home security system. It varies greatly from the home security systems that are popular today and rely heavily on technology.
A part of this home security system that seems to have been since removed, would physically block the door from opening.
