Western Sahara – Aziza Brahim
Born in a Sahrawi refugee camp in Algeria to a mother who was fleeing the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara, Aziza Brahim has been shaped by the severe conditions of the desert camps. This is where she discovered music as a natural language to express herself, bringing comfort to herself and others around her. She has since performed in many parts of the world with her group and has composed the soundtrack for as well as acted in several Spanish movies.
