Stanley Ketchel
Ketchel was a middleweight who often liked to fight men much bigger than himself. Most notable was his war with heavyweight legend and world champion Jack Johnson.
In the bout, Johnson outweighed Ketchel by 35 pounds, but despite this disadvantage, Ketchel performed well. He even floored Johnson in the 12th round. Johnson rose to his feet and then promptly knocked Ketchel out. Even with the loss, Stanley Ketchel goes down as one of the bravest fighters in boxing history.
