Alexis Arguello is consistently rated as one of the greatest punchers of all time and was voted by the Associated Press as the greatest junior lightweight in history. He also has the distinction of having never lost one of his world championships in the ring, instead of relinquishing them to pursue titles in other weights.

Arguello is best known for his unsuccessful and controversial challenges of Aaron Pryor for the Junior Welterweight Championship. He collected 62 knockouts during his career and won three championships in three different weight divisions. These were the WBA Featherweight, WBC Super Featherweight, and WBC Lightweight.

Alexis was active between 1968 and 1995 and won 77 matches while losing only 8.
