“More Doctors Smoke CAMELS than any other cigarette!” – Camel

Before studies revealed the long-term effects of smoking, from cancer and emphysema to increased risk of stroke and brain damage, tobacco companies like Camel hired real doctors to promote the benefits of smoking. While some reports claim that smoking reduces stress and lowers the risk of obesity, we know today that the adverse health effects of smoking far outweigh any alleged benefits.

Camel even recommends that you take the “sensible test” and smoke only their brand for 30 days to see how it pleases your taste and suits your throat. After a much longer period, these same doctors probably discovered how cigarette-smoking damaged their sense of smell and taste and caused chronic bronchitis.

In this ad, R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company managed to get not just one doctor to promote their cancer sticks but five.
