ABBA’s Agnetha Faltskog Has A Stalker Who’s Become Famous — For Stalking Her

ABBAmania ran wild all over the world — the one place it didn’t really catch on was the U.S. — with the Swedish quartet mobbed by fans in the country after country. Faltskog’s fear of persistent fans predated ABBA — she had been a solo artist before the group formed, releasing four albums and notching a (Swedish) chart-topping single. Young, attractive, and blonde, Faltskog was more or less the ideal Swedish babe, and the press tended to objectify her as such. Many years later, she attacked a stalker named Gert van der Graaf, a forklift operator who was 17 years younger than her, whom she actually dated for a couple of years. After their breakup, he became a super stalker. He has been deported and was subsequently barred from entering Sweden for his refusal to leave her alone.
