Tomatoes Back Then And Now
The tomato known today is reddish and of average size. A test was carried out to see the difference between a modern grown tomato and the type grown about two centuries ago. To get the test done, a seed from about 150 years ago was planted in the garden. After some time, the result was a purple/wine colored tomato. It also looked bigger than the modern type. This old tomato is not common anymore except for some places in Europe.
