In the more than half a century since its release, the original Planet of the Apes has become something of a dystopian movie trope – “They were on Earth all along!”
Nevertheless, it’s still a super effective sci-fi thriller, and you can really feel the confusion and anger that Charlton Heston’s character feels.
In one scene especially, he gets pelted with stones by the apes, who enjoy making him suffer. Well, most of them do. One extra just seems like she’s scared for her own life, while the other throws the stone so limply it barely clears her body.
