Instead, we’ll argue that Captain Hook, the villain from Peter Pan, is responsible for the death of Ariel’s mom from The Little Mermaid. Ariel’s mom has passed in The Little Mermaid, but in Peter Pan, we see a mermaid that looks just like her. This has led fans to speculate that this mermaid is King Triton’s deceased wife, Athena.
