Wrong Flag?
A lot of people got upset that Disney managed to get China’s flag wrong in Mulan. How on earth did they use the Japanese one instead? The answer is – they didn’t.
The symbol on the tent and on the doctor’s bag does indeed look a lot like the Japanese flag, But it’s actually an ancient Chinese medical symbol. In other words, it was the Chinese equivalent of the red cross.
So this was a case of Disney going above and beyond to include historically accurate details, but people mistook it for a mistake.
