Barney Ross is notable for a few reasons. For one, he was never knocked out in 81 professional bouts, including several against legendary fighters. Ross holds victories over fellow legends Tony Canzoneri and Jimmy McLarnin. In 1938, Ross defended his World Welterweight Championship against Henry Armstrong.

Despite taking a hellacious beating, Ross refused the fight to be stopped and ended it on his feet. He would lose that night, but this has consistently been hailed as one of the most courageous performances in boxing history.
